It's been a momentous couple of weeks in DLFC world. We are now a limited company, we have a business bank account, we even have the funding for our pop up cafe, which, at this moment is 35 flipping days away!!!
We are 30% excited.
We are 70% terrified.
There is still A LOT TO DO!!
We are going to be at the Friargate Quaker Meeting House from September 28th every Friday for 12 weeks. We're doing this to see if we CAN run a cafe, and to hopefully prove the concept that a proper play cafe for York will work and IS needed. That way we can apply for funding and investment to rent proper premises and do the 'full fat' version of DLFC.
We chose Friargate because it's in town, it has a kitchen with a hatch onto the room we're hiring and it was, crucially, available! Space in central York is tricky to come by it turns out.
Right now we've written a draft menu (see the morning menu below), we've got ourselves some branded aprons (so we feel important) and we're making big shopping lists of everything from chopping boards to play caves(!)
We know that we need to make a good first impression when we open our doors to you lovely lot - hence the terror.
Wish us luck! We'll send updates from the coal face as we go...
Roars & Sprinkles,
Amy and Zoe xx
